Client: Location: Salary: Market & Propositions Development Manager – City of London
Purpose of the Job:

In concert with similar roles, to:

* Lead the development of actionable, timely and robust market research, analysis and insight across the Group;
* Develop and implement the Group’s service, product and proposition development programmes.

Budget and Headcount Information:
Co-ordination and tracking for the Group’s research, analysis and proposition spend, ensuring expenditure remains with the agreed budget.
Principal Accountabilities:

* Agree with the Marketing Manager and other stakeholders the research, analysis, insight and proposition objectives, strategy and plan. Effectively develop, manage and implement those elements agreed with the Marketing Manager.
* Devise, gain agreement for and deliver effective primary and secondary research programmes and to follow up on recommended actions. To include managing the Group’s marketing information system and identifying and recommending new sources of information to enrich market insight.
* Provide quality insight to aid Group-wide and SBU / divisional decision making.
* Provide quality research and analysis to the Group-wide planning process both in terms of plan creation and reviewing progress against plan.
* Manage and deliver analysis and assessment of the Group’s key chosen markets in support of the strategic marketing and planning process. To include, but not limited to, the ongoing creation and presentation of actionable insight relating to market size, profitability, key trends, approaches to segmentation and competitive positioning.
* Develop and manage the Group’s product and proposition roadmap, including recommending the delivery of new, and improvement to, existing products and services in line with agreed strategic marketing plans for the Group and each SBU.
* Lead, manage and support the development of new products and services, including

specific distribution, claims and added value services propositions in line with SBUs and Group functions.
* Maintain effective working relationships with colleagues across the organisation including those at a senior level.
* Challenge and define requirements whilst being able to identify, define and respond to changing and evolving requirements.
* Effectively appoint and manage external research and information agencies to optimise the value gained from each and effectively contribute to the delivering strategic insight.

Education, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

* Proven track record in undertaking and delivering market research and analysis and presenting actionable insight to senior management.
* Strong understanding of the product development process with significant experience of leading the delivery of new products and service propositions.
* Preferable to possess in-depth understanding of the commercial insurance market, with strong product knowledge.
* Likely to possess relevant professional qualification in market research.
* Desirable to be either CIM or ACII qualified, or working towards this.
* Experience in managing market research agencies and knowledge of core research databases.
* A proven track record in interpreting data for business use.
* Strong analytical and numeric skills.
* Strong communication skills both written and oral.
* Team player who can work effectively in a matrix organisation structure.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with and influence senior management. Including ability to challenge at the highest level whilst being able to recognise when to be pragmatic and to deliver effectively on decisions when they have been made.
* Successful track record of working in a similar role, ideally in financial services.
